Accord Housing Association’s Executive Director of Homes and Communities has been announced as a finalist for a prestigious Women in Housing award.
Sara Woodall was announced as a finalist for the Woman of the Year: Tenant/ Customer Facing award, which recognises someone who has demonstrated real leadership and has helped support other women in their personal and professional development.
The awards, organised by leading weekly housing sector publication, Inside Housing, highlight the amazing work and achievements of the many women who make a major contribution within the social housing sector.
Sara commented: “I was shocked to hear I’d been named as a finalist for Woman of the Year, as I wasn’t expecting it. To be shortlisted for this prestigious award, alongside so many other amazing women, who make a real difference within the housing sector is a huge honour.”
Sara started her housing career as a housing management trainee at Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council. Sara has since had a successful career within the housing sector taking on a number of roles within the West Midlands, before taking on her current position at Accord.
Chris Handy, Chief Executive at Accord, added: “Sara is a real inspiration for women everywhere. She has achieved so much at Accord, led on so many important initiatives for us, and always championed the causes of social justice for the vulnerable and needy. She’s done this with consistent passion and dedication. I could not think of anyone better to be woman of the year.”
Sara will find out at the awards ceremony in October, which will take place in Manchester, whether she has won the award. For more information on the awards visit: www.womeninhousingawards.co.uk
